Hello

My name is Jon Sumida and I am a former severe obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) sufferer. I created this site to share what I have learned and to help people live a healthier and happier life.

My Story

Back in 2012, I was driving to work and fell asleep at the wheel, it was truly a wake-up moment for me. When I got to work, I spoke with my manager and couldn't understand a word he was saying because my brain was not processing information properly. I knew I had a serious problem and had to do something. So, I underwent a medical sleep study and found out that my oxygenation level dropped to 80% during the night. Normally, your oxygenation level is 98-99% when functioning properly. I tackled this challenge head on. There were a lot of ups and downs emotionally because I didn't know if what I was doing would work, it was a really tough time in my life. However, I ended up creating a solution that provided me good sleep without using a medical device.

In late 2023, I started lifting light weights and my sleep condition worsened. I guess I am just stubbornly persistent. So, I determined to solve my sleep apnea completely and now, I get consistent, calm sleep. There is a lot of stress when your good sleep is random and you don't have control over it. Oftentimes, I would go to bed worried that my sleep apnea would cause me to say or do something that I would regret the next day. Knowing that I have a system that works night after night has made a huge difference in my life. My memory is sharper ... I have less anxiety ... It is much easier to be social and take emotional risks ... I have much more patience. These are just some of the benefits.

If you are an OSA sufferer, I encourage you to read the articles I have written and see if anything resonates with you. The power of near perfect sleep was possible for me and there was light at the end of my dark tunnel. I truly believe that getting great sleep can change your life. That is what I experienced in mine.
